Frank Lampard could well be donning the Real Madrid jersey this summer if Jose Mourinho becomes coach at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The Chelsea goalscoring midfielder would be tempted to reunite with his former Chelsea coach, whom he has a strong relationship with.
According to Spanish newspaper Marca, Lampard is top of the list of transfer targets drawn up by Real Madrid's sporting director Jorge Valdano and club president Florentino Perez. The Real Madrid fans would welcome a stream of goals from the midfielder who has scored 22 Premier League goals in just 36 starts.
With current Real Madrid coach Manuel Pellegrini's future at the Bernabeu in a cloud of doubt, Jose Mourinho is the hot favourite to succeed the Chilean, who has failed to deliver the Champions League trophy - something which the Madrid club have been craving for.
Having said that, the Real hierarchy is confident that Mourinho is the man who can bring the European glory back to the Bernabeu.
