Pellegrini admits doubt over future

Manuel Pellegrini admitted his days at Real Madrid could be numbered as he prepared his side for the conclusion of the La Liga.

Madrid go to Malaga tomorrow a point behind leaders Barcelona, who meet struggling Real Valladolid at the Nou Camp on the season's final day.

Despite pushing Barca so close, Pellegrini is unlikely to be at the Bernabeu next season with speculation in Spain and Italy suggesting Inter Milan boss Jose Mourinho has been lined up as his replacement.

Chilean Pellegrini conceded today his time could be up.

"All year, and especially in recent weeks, there hasn't been a clear reply (from the club)," Pellegrini said when asked about his position.

"Amidst the uncertainty I have always had the support of the players.

"I don't think Real speak behind the back of their coach, this isn't their style.

"But I am not so naive to believe that all the rumours are simply speculation.

"If, for whatever reason, the project doesn't continue the person who comes in will have a difficult job... he will have to win more than 100 points in the league to do better than me.

"I know failing to win a title isn't good but I don't think the final decision will change much whether we win the league or not."

Pellegrini's main failing this season was the Champions League exit to Lyon at the round of 16.

The club also suffered a humiliating Copa del Rey defeat to third division Alcorcon.
