Redknapp back Moyes to succeed Fergie

Harry Redknapp has given his endorsement to David Moyes as a candidate to succeed Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United.

This, of course, depends on when Ferguson decides to retire from his highly successful managerial career.

Reports from England suggest that the United boss sees Moyes as a suitable successor, and Redknapp believes the Everton manager is more than qualified to take over the at Old Trafford.

"I like [Chelsea's] Carlo Ancelotti, he is a smashing bloke and he seems a top manager but, with the same players and the same resources, David Moyes could have done the same job at Chelsea," Redknapp said to Givemefootball.com.

"Steve Bruce should be in there as well. He's done a good job at Sunderland. He knows United, he has been a player there."

The Spurs boss says he is concerned that the arrival of foreign owners in the Premier League will result in fewer British managers and reasons that local managers deserve an opportunity to manage at the highest level.

"I still think when the big jobs come up the leading clubs will look for foreign managers. Why? Well, we are getting more foreign owners. They read about big names, great European players from the past and they are attracted by their reputation.

"I know people have been talking about who is in the frame for the United job when Alex decides to call it a day. It's Capello, it's Mourinho, it's Hiddink and Wenger."
