Tottenham's Tom Huddlestone is determined to finally banish the feeling of failure by qualifying for the Champions League.
The former Derby player was at Spurs in 2006 when a bout of food poisoning decimated the squad for the last game of the season.
Tottenham lost to West Ham and therefore missed out on a place in the European Cup, with North London rivals Arsenal grabbing fourth spot in the Premier League.
But Spurs have a chance to cure any remaining ill-feeling if they succeed in what has essentially become a winner-takes-all meeting with top-four rivals Manchester City on Wednesday.
Huddlestone, fresh from his stunning winner against Bolton, is aware of the importance of the clash, and said: "Apart from a cup final at Wembley, it's probably the biggest game of my time with Tottenham.
"I was here four years ago when we played West Ham on the last day of the season with a chance of finishing fourth.
"I remember the feeling of desolation after we lost, and we don't want to go through that again.
"There are still quite a few lads here who were involved that afternoon, so we know the hurt, and hopefully we've got a chance to put it right this time.
"I was among those struck down by the bug and I didn't play, which is just as well. I couldn't move or breathe, but it was devastating to miss out on the top four."
