Chelsea hit-man Didier Drogba has been awarded the club’s best player for the 2009-10 season.
The striker has enjoyed a remarkable season with the club, finding the back of the net 26 times in a season where Chelsea could be named champions of the Premier League if they do beat Wigan Athletic at home on Sunday.
It is the first time that the player has received the award since arriving at the club in 2004 and he was ecstatic with the honour.
The event that was broadcasted by Chelsea TV captured the Drogba's speech: "Wow," he bagan.
"Thank you to all the fans from my heart.
"When I came here it wasn't easy for me, I made a lot of mistakes and they always tried to help me. My only desire was to love this club and win a lot of trophies. This is the happiest I have ever been and I want this moment to continue for years and years."
Left-back Ashley Cole meanwhile received the Goal of the Season award for his solo effort against Sunderland in Janaury.
"I had been practicing hard in training with Lamps [Frank Lampard] and Didier and normally they went over the bar," Cole said about the goal.
"But it was a great ball from JT [John Terry], we have a good understanding and we try to do that a lot.
"As I took the touch I didn't know what to do but I did a 'Cruyff' and luckily the keeper went down and I chipped it over him."
Florent Malouda was named the Players' Player of the year and in his speech he appealed to his teammates to push for the Premier League crown and the FA Cup double.
"It has been one of my best seasons and I would like to thank my team-mates, they are the best jury, but I prefer collective awards so I ask them to please help me win that Double," he urged.
