Man City vs Tottenham Player Ratings
We rate the players in the game between Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur at Eastlands on Wednesday.
Tottenham can now look forward to Champions League football next season after beating Manchester City 1-0 at Eastlands thanks to Peter Crouch's goal in the 83rd minute.

Manchester City
Marton Fulop - 7.5
The emergency goalkeeper looked to be the hero for Man City with a series of fantastic saves to deny Jermaine Defoe and Peter Crouch but could do nothing about Crouch's winning goal which broke many Manchester hearts.
Pablo Zabaleta - 6.5
The Man City right-back did well in defence and supported the attack well.
Kolo Toure - 7
Had a solid defensive game and looked to stop everything in his tracks.
Vincent Kompany - 7
The Man City centre-back had an inspired game and was instrumental in keeping out the danger posed by the Spurs attack. Could not prevent Crouch's goal though.
Wayne Bridge - 6
Had a good defensive game in dealing with Lennon then Bentley but failed to make much of a difference to his team's attack on the left channel.
Adam Johnson - 7 (off 71')
Not his best game but managed to eliminate much of the danger from the right. Had a fantastic long range shot brilliantly saved by Gomes in the first-half.
Nigel De Jong - 7.5
What a game he had. He was simply rock solid for Man City and was up for every challenge.
Garreth Barry - 6 (off '55)
Controlled the midfield well but had to be forced off mid-way through the second half due to an ankle injury.
Craig Bellamy - 5 (off 84')
He had a surprisingly quiet game. I expected him to rise to the occasion but was disappointed. Perhaps he is already contemplating on which club to join next season. Spurs maybe?
Carlos Tevez - 6
Threatened to single-handedly tear Spurs apart during the start of the game but faded away as the game passes. He will be disappointed with himself.
Emmanuel Adebayor - 5
Failed to impose himself on the Spurs defence besides a few headers on goal. Seemed distracted for most part of the game. Where is Ade-goal's mind exactly?
Subs:
Patrick Vieira (on '55) - 6
Was unexpectedly thrown in to replace the injured Barry but did well to hold the midfield intact. But he is no longer the Vieira we used to know.
Shaun Wright-Phillips (on '71) - 6.5
Came off the bench again and threatened the Spurs defence with his pace.
Roque Santa Cruz (on 84') - n/a
Tottenham
Heurelho Gomes - 8
This game simply shows why he is up there with the best. The Spurs keeper had an absolutely outstanding game and was invincible.
Younes Kaboul - 7
Had a solid game together with the rest of the Spurs backline. Delivered the cross that brought the all important winning goal.
Steve Dawson - 8
He was impenetrable on the night. The solid rock of the Spurs defence.
Ledley King - 8
Had a headed goal disallowed after he was alleged to have climbed on Barry's shoulders. I disagree and thought the goal should have stood. Defensive wise the Spurs centre-back had a bullet-proof game.
Benoit Assou-Ekotto - 7
The highly rated left-back had a good game overall and dealt with the threat of Johnson commendably. Was constantly bombing down the left channel.
Aaron Lennon - 6 (off 71')
His first start of 2010 but one would expect the England winger to pose more of a threat to the Man City's defence. Credit has to go to the City defence for successfully shutting him out of action.
Tom Huddlestone - 5.5
Not too impressive for me. Had a fair game without really making an impact.
Luka Modric - 5 (off 88')
What a disappointing game! The Croatian playmaker failed to produce any spark we are used to seeing from him. Fluffed a couple of long shots.
Gareth Bale - 7
The on-form left back continues to show his attacking prowess and caused Man City many problems with his pace and trickery on the left.
Peter Crouch - 7.5
The hero of the night for Tottenham. The England striker started in favour of Roman Pavlynchenko and what a gamble by Harry Redknapp! He missed a couple of good chances and was unlucky to hit the crossbar with a header. It did not matter as his headed goal has led Spurs into the Champions League for the first time since 1962.
Jermaine Defoe - 5 (off 80')
His goal drought continues after failing to convert some of his chances. The England striker looks a pale shadow of the player during the early season and this will not do his hopes of starting for England any good as Fabio Capello watched from the stands.
Subs:
David Bentley (on 71') - 5
Had little impact after coming on for Lennon during the closing stages.
Roman Pavlyuchenko (on 80') - 5
Came on for the Defoe 10 minutes from time but pretty much insignificant.
Wilson Palacios (on 88') - n/a
