Real Madrid Vs Barcelona 0-2 All Goals

Barcelona struck a potentially decisive blow in the La Liga title race by ending Real Madrid's perfect home record.

Lionel Messi's 40th goal of the season in all competitions put the reigning Spanish and European champions on the road to victory in 'El Clasico', and Pedro Rodriguez sealed his side's 2-0 win 10 minutes after half-time.

The result ended Madrid's 12-match winning streak in La Liga and their 100% record at the Bernabeu, which had stood at 15 successive triumphs, but more importantly it put Barca in pole position to retain their league crown.

Not only are they three points clear of Madrid with seven games to go, but they also boast the better head-to-head record if the two clubs should finish level.

Elsewhere in La Liga this evening, Sevilla moved back into pole position for the last Champions League spot by staging a late comeback to triumph 2-1 at Malaga in a fiercely-disputed Andalusian derby.

Felipe Caicedo gave Malaga an early lead after 16 minutes following Andres Palop's error and the home side held on until halfway through the second period, when another goalkeeping error handed the visitors a lifeline.

Gustavo Munua erred and Cala equalised, but the Malaga goalkeeper looked to have redeemed himself later with some neat saves, only to be disappointed as Lolo headed the winner six minutes from time.

Diego Godin scored the only goal as Villarreal moved back into the final Europa League qualifying spot, at least for one night, with a 1-0 home victory over Sporting Gijon.

The Uruguay defender capitalised on an error by visiting keeper Juan Pablo Colinas to head home his first goal since October 2007 in the 17th minute and lift his team a point ahead of Athletic Bilbao, who take on mid-table Almeria tomorrow.

Xerez's chances of survival were dealt a huge blow as they went down 1-0 at home to a Getafe side chasing a Europa League spot.

Rafa Lopez's header on the hour proved enough to give the visitors a hard-earned victory - despite the late dismissal of Pedro Leon.

Finally, Javier Clemente's first match in charge of Real Valladolid finished in a goalless draw at Tenerife, leaving both teams rooted in the drop zone.
