Nurnberg vs Mainz Preview

Nurnberg coach Dieter Hecking is preparing for six games which will determine what division the Bavarians will play next season.

Nurnberg are currently one point above the bottom three, but Hecking insists his side must concentrate on their own job and not rely on help from elsewhere, and ideally that would mean winning their next three games to guarantee mathematical safety before May.

"We have got to concentrate on our own tasks and not ask ourselves each weekend 'what would have happened if?'" he said.

"Anything can still happen in six matches."

Mainz coach Thomas Tuchel has promised that his side will honour their final six matches this season, even if their place in the top flight has already been all but mathematically secured.

Tuchel still intends to end the year on a high, even if he is already thinking about his planning for next season.

"We are still looking for every single point, even if our existence does not depend on it," he said.

"We must carry on and we don't want to veer from our path. We want to follow it to the end and keep on developing since the path does not end after just one season anyway."

Mainz striker Aristide Bance serves the final game of his three-match ban this weekend so Adam Szalai has one more chance to prove his worth.

Hecking is not likely to make any alterations to his side since, with the exception of Breno, he has a fully-fit squad to choose from.
