Champions League Tuesday Review
Jose Mourinho's Inter Milan knocked Chelsea out of the Champions League while CSKA Moscow made it to their first ever quarter final.
Mourinho enjoyed a winning return to Stamford Bridge - the site of so many of his previous triumphs.
The Special One declared his attacking intentions from the beginning - handing out starts to the striking trio of Goran Pandev, Diego Milito and Samuel Eto'o.
The match simmered for a while before Michael Ballack made the first thrust of the night - his drive from outside the box skimming past Julio Cesar's right post in the 11th minute.
Chelsea vs Inter Milan Player Ratings
Didier Drogba was the next to go close - and it was only a superb block from Maicon that kept things level.
Inter responded with some forays of their own - Eto's missing the chance of the half when he horribly mistimed a free header after John Terry had misjudged the flight of the ball.
The Blues had two decent penalty shouts in the first 45 mintues. First, Branislav Ivanovic was brought down by Thiago Motta before Drogba was literally wrestled to the ground by Walter Samuels.
The referee however refused to uphold either claim and the sides went in at half time with the match still scoreless.
In the second half Inter dominated proceedings through midfielder Wesley Sneijder. Chelsea began to leave large gaps at the back in search of a goal and this allowed the Dutchman to set his teammates through time and again.

Yuri Zhirkov's sensational block denied Pandev after the latter had been released by Sneijder and it was a sign of things to come.
Another precise ball by the Dutchman found Samuel Eto'o who held off Ivanovic to squeeze the ball past Blues' keeper Ross Turnbull with the outside of his right foot.
Chelsea now needed two to force extra-time but rarely looked like scoring - Florent Malouda's strike from the left being their only attack of note.
To round off a miserable night for the Stamford Bridge faithful, Drogba was sent off after raking his studs down Thiago Motta's calf. Eto'o went close once again late on - Turnbull producing a fine save to deny the Cameroonian striker his brace.
1-0 was how it ended and Mourinho had conquered Stamford Bridge yet again.
In the other match, an Andres Palop clanger sent CSKA Moscow through to the next round. The Sevilla keeper fisted the ball into his own net from a swerving Keisuke Honda free-kick to gift the Russians a 2-1 win.
CSKA had taken the lead after Honda held the ball up at the edge of the box before slipping it through to Tomas Necid. Necid opened his body nicely and placed the ball calmly into the net past a diving Palop.
Sevilla struck back almost immediately - a long ball catching the defence out and Diego Perotti was at hand to poke the ball home from close range.
It was 1-1 at half time, but Palop's howler soon after gave CSKA a 2-1 lead on the night and a 3-2 win on aggregate. This is the Russian team's first ever Champions League quarter-final.
