Barcelona's wonderkid Lionel Messi has admitted his side needs to improve to beat Stuttgart in the Champions League.
The European champions were held to a 1-1 draw by Stuttgart on Tuesday night. More worryingly, they were outplayed for large parts of the game by a side that is currently placed ninth in the German Bundesliga.
According to Messi, a better performance is imperative.
Speaking to Barcelona's official website, he said: "We'll have to play better than we did on Tuesday."
Barcelona were trailing at half time, having been comprehensively outplayed and onyl a scrambled second-half goal by Zlatan Ibrahimovic secured the draw.
"I can't remember exactly what the coach [Pep Guardiola] said at half-time, but we knew we had to change things if we were to avoid a defeat.
"I don't know what went wrong. It's true that recently we've not been playing the same football we are used to, but now is the key moment and we have to get back to that level."
The Catalans host Stuttgart in the return leg on March 17.
